The Gentleman’s Code- Throwback

The Gentlemans code throwbackEvery gentleman needs a code to live by.  This is a gentleman’s code that is the proverbial line drawn in the sand.  The gentleman cannot be pushed further than this line until something has to change.  There also has to be standards instilled in a gentleman that he does not cross or deviate from.  Some call these principals, some call these values, but all can consider it a code.  Whatever you decide to call it, you have to develop your own.

I submit to you today a list that I am going to call the gentleman’s code.  There are 10 rules that I live by every single day and encourage you to do so.  A gentleman should be aware that it is a skill to take away concepts more than anything and a skilled gentleman creates their own code to live by.  Write your own down in a place where you can review them on a daily basis to make sure that you are following them.

How To Find The Right Barber

barber-1453064_640The first things that people see when they meet you is your face, smile, and your hair.  To look your best you have to make sure your barber cuts your hair right.  Having the right barber is instrumental in making sure that you are ready for the world and ready to meet new people.  Don’t be the guy that walks around with a bad haircut.  Step up and invest in your looks.  Having a hair cut that makes you look good is apart of being a gentleman.

I have had the same barber for the past 6 years.  He has made me look my best for a very long time and during times where I needed to look my best.  To find him I had to search through years of terrible barbers and terrible hair cuts.  Not only am I going to talk about finding someone to cut your hair, but how to keep them around.

How To Stay Fit Through The Holidays

staying fit through the holidaysThanksgiving and Christmas is the hardest time of year to stay on your health program.  Staying fit and active is a tough thing to keep up when there are holiday parties and large amounts of food available.  Foods that aren’t served but once a year.  Staying fit is something that you have worked really hard toward the past 10 months.  So how does a Gentleman stay in shape so that the suit fits and the swimsuit looks good 6 months from now?

I am personally getting out of my food coma and wish I had followed my own advice yesterday.  However, we can all gain from this podcast today in preparation for Christmas.  If staying fit is your goal, you have to be prepared to limit yourself and be hard.  Don’t worry, it is all worth it in the end!

Upgrade Your Style with Harrison Blake Apparel

pexels-photo-102129Have you ever been in the situation where you are getting ready to leave for an event where you need to look nice and don’t know how long your tie needs to be?  You don’t have time to look it up but you also don’t want to look foolish.  In general, as Gentlemen we should be concerned with how our style looks.  More to the point, we need to know how to dress ourselves like we did more than dive into our closet and roll around.  When upgrading our style we want to avoid the pitfall of going into debt.

Harrison Blake Apparel is a monthly membership for men to use to continuously upgrade their style.  Every month you get a neck tie and a few accessories that match for $25.  Here is the great part about this, you get the price of a bulk buy instead of an individual purchase.  This past month’s package value came to $84.00.  This is a steep discount that you benefit from.

Today, I brought on Richard Taylor of Harrison Blake Apparel to talk to us about upgrading our style.  We talk about a lot of things that men really should know about dressing nice without taking out a loan to do so.  We also talk about how to avoid major mistakes that both myself and Richard have seen men make while trying to dress nice.

18 Things A Father Should Teach His Son

father teach son
When your son is born, you have just signed up for a job you will be working for the next 18 years of your life.  There are no breaks, there are no days off and you will be responsible for finishing this job rather you like it or not.  Regardless of what has been said, a young man first looks up to his father for guidance.  As a father, you have to step up and be that Gentleman that he needs in his life before he starts to outsource his inspiration to someone else.  That might be someone else that you dont want this outsourced to.  By thinking about this ahead of time and planning out what you want to teach, you will be able to make sure that he knows exactly what you want him to know to succeed in life.

I am not saying that I am an expert on raising children, however I was raised as a child.  I am bringing the experiences and the information that my mentors bestowed upon me as a child.  If you have other ideas about this, please comment and let me know what you taught or would teach your son.

6 Things Solo Backpacking Beginners Need To Know

6 things solo backpacking beginners need to knowBeing a solo backpacker means that you are one that ventures out into the back woods alone to enjoy nature in its silent and raw bliss.  There is not anyone that you can rely on but yourself and your dog that you take with you.  The grit of the trail and the silence of the back country are the only elements that keep your mind from wondering.  Solo backpacking is a wonderful way for gentlemen to be pushed into a whole different mindset that allows you to reset your problems and to really see what you are made of.

I just finished up my first solo backpacking trip a few days ago.  To say that I had a wonderful time is an understatement.  I learned a lot about myself and pushed myself to my limits.  All men should take this opportunity to go out and pick up this hobby for themselves.  It is a great way to learn about yourself.
