9 Apps That You Have To Put On Your Phone

9 apps you must have on your phoneIt seems like we are living in a world full of apps.  If you want to control your house, there is an app for that.  If you want to get a ride, there is an app for that.  If you want to have a fake stalker girlfriend to impress someone, there is luckily an app for that also.  Out of the millions of applications available I have come up with my top 9 favorite.  These range from helping me grow and further my business to keeping all of those really cool ideas in one easy to read location.  With all of this cell phone talk and endorsements toward apps, please keep in mind that none of these are sponsoring the show.  The way that I see it, if you have done a good job you deserve recognition for it.

Once a week I put together a throwback episode.  This is because I am working on a book among everything else.  If you are interest, I will be putting up presale book information.  If you are interested in buying the book, I would suggest going with this option because the copies will all be signed and put in the mail with a special note attached.  Not sure on the cost yet, just keep that in mind.

Don’t Be That Guy Explained

that guyI have said in just about every episode, “Don’t be that guy”.  But what guy am I talking about?  What am I trying to convey to you when I say, don’t be that guy?  There are so many “that guy” kind of people out there that it is kind of sickening.  Those traits that you look at and consider acidic or distasteful.  They are out there and I am going to expose it best I can.  I don’t just want to expose the problem people.  I am going to make sure I give you some ways to get out of that kind of mindset.  There are remedies for everything that is discussed, you just have to be prepared to consider them and change.  The show today should be pretty funny but also kind of sad considering that I have to expose these people.  We shouldn’t have let these kinds of people in the world to be this way.  The time to change is now.  As mentioned in the show, don’t be the voice of change, be the act of change.  Actions speak louder than words, and as gentlemen our actions are explosions in the dead of silence.

What do i mean by “don’t be that guy”

    • what guy am I talking about
    • how can we avoid being that guy
    • why did I choose that tagline
    • how does it speak to my audience

A Farewell to 2015!

a farewell to 2015Today is the final show of 2015.  All but the Christmas special that will occur in a few days.  I wanted to sort of compare the two shows that I have done over my time spent doing podcasts.  The show that came before this one was called Understanding Pets Podcast.  It was horrible.  I had little direction and thus had very little following and listening.  In comparison of what has happened over the past year, I am super excited.  With all of the success of the show I cannot get over how much you guys have done.  I put the content out there and you guys like, share, and listen to it.  I really do appreciate everything that you all do for the show.  So this is a farewell to 2015 because I am not going to do another show until 2016.  A farewell to a lot of different things that I have put into place and a farewell to the anxiety that this show may not work out.

What have we done and where have we come in this farewell special

  • My old show, Understanding Pets Podcast
  • The differences between this show and that one
  • How much you guys really mean to me
  • What is to be expected in 2016
  • The show I did with Bob Mayne called Prepping For Your Pets

Remember that I am taking the last 2 weeks off of December from the podcast.  I will still have Email service, and I will be on the Facebook page.  I am just taking time away from the show.  The reason is because I need to do some reflection and figure out where I want the show to go next year.

Cell Phone Etiquette – A Gentlemen’s Guide

Cell Phone Etiquette - A Gentlemen's GuideEveryone has a cell phone now.  Your children has a cell phone, your grandparents has a cell phone, but what annoys me and everyone around me is how we have not developed an etiquette.  Maybe we have, but have we… wait a moment… yeah, no I can talk… Okay, sorry, now I am back and I swear I am more interested in this conversation.  Maybe we have figured out an cell phone etiquette but have we implemented it?  I would ague that is has not based on how society has developed our lives along side our distraction device.

I do enjoy my cell phone and I do use it to acomplish different tasks.  However, I have employed a set of rules that I do not violate.  An etiquette that I will not go behind because I put more stock with face to face interaction versus over the cell phone.

How do we employee our own cell phone etiqutte?

    • when we answer our phones
    • What dictates an emergency
    • when is texting appropriate
    • no cell phone zones

Scary Urban Legends That Are True

scary urban legends that are trueIn the whole theme that I have created this week is revolving around one of my all time favorite holidays.  The last podcast that I did was Ghost Stories 2015 and those were really just stories.  Stories that may or (most likely) may not be true.  What I am going to talk about today is real.  These stories were started and became legends because they are true.  Urban Legends are stories that are passed down and sometimes hard to track whether or not they are true.  I have found either one or two sources that verify that it really happened.  So the scariest part of this whole thing is the fact that these urban legends are completely true.

Which urban legends turn out to be true?

This show was a lot of fun to research.  I also came across a lot of really scary stuff over the past few days.  To be honest, it was a lot of fun.  I hope you guys got something out of this.  We will be back to the regular shows on Friday.  We will be finishing up this month with the history behind Halloween and why we celebrate it.  Why we do certain things and why we hold on to certain traditions like going trick or treating and dressing up our kids.

  • Forcible Kidney Removal
  • Buried Alive

Ghost Stories for 2015

ghost storiesPlaying along with the season that is Halloween, I am going to tell a few ghost stories.  There is not going to be anything to ghost stories 2015 that is going to educate you or expand your mind.  I decided that it is a fun holiday and ghost stories have always been my favorite past time during this holiday, and I wanted to share with you these stories I found.  Not just a few stories that I wanted to share with you, but some of my past and my feelings on related things like horror movies and horror based video games.  I also dive into my high school years when a bunch of us guys sat around on a saturday night and played horror video games while eating tacos and soda.  This is Halloween.  Dress up, go to parties, have fun, and drive safe!  Do not be an idiot that decides to drive drunk and end up killing someone.

This will be a tradition for us.  Ghost Stories 2016 will happen one year from today.  Let me know if you really enjoy this and I will keep them coming year after year.

Enjoy a few ghost stories this year!

  • Shadow Man
  • 2 sentence ghost stories
  • Babysitting my cousin
  • horror based video games
  • Why do we enjoy getting scared
  • Things that creep me out
  • The wrong parents

A Conversation Between Two Firefighters

a conversation between two firefightersBack in my early years as a lifeguard I had a close friend.  Drew and I had a wonderful time cracking jokes and swapping stories about being firefighters which is always a good time.  We ended up parting ways after a few years and lost touch with each other for a long time, until a year ago.  I have made him my beer mentor, if that exist, because he has been brewing beer a lot longer than I have.  He came over to the office today to brew some beer and, again, swap stories of being firefighters.  Understand that these stories are not to be mean or making fun of people, but we are firefighters and enjoy stories.  Join me today, which so happens to be BREW DAY, as we talk about:

  • How we met
  • How I got him a job
  • How being a firefighters brought us together
  • Stories about being a rookie firefighters
  • Insights into the brotherhood
  • Funny firefighters stories
