Brunswick Stew is a really simple recipe that any man can put together. This particular recipe style is perfect for a slow cooker which means that you are able to wake up early, get everything put in the pot, go to work, and come home to an amazing smelling house.
1 can of cream corn
1 can of whole kernel corn
2 can diced tomatoes
bag of Lima beans
however much meat you want finely chopped
few dashes of worcestershire sauce
few dashes of hot sauce
1/2 cup of ketchup
1/2 cup of bbq sauce
any other vegetable you want to add
You put this in the slow cooker for however long you want. Just make sure that you have moisture in the pot so it does not burn.
This traditional dish is meant for when there are extra vegetables and meat left on the farm before winter hits. You cant store the vegetables because there is not enough but you don’t want to get rid of them. So you put them in a pot and slow cook them so the flavors mix and you get a mouth watering Brunswick stew.
In my house, we typically cook this right before the first snow storm. That is on its way here! One disaster that is common for snow storms is the loss of power. If you were to take the leftover Brunswick stew and freeze it you can have a meal that is ready to go if the power does go out.
Mentioned in the 4:05 mark of the Brunswick stew video, I mention the dutch oven (http://amzn.to/2iTRod7). When you buy this you can take your frozen Brunswick stew and cook it over an open flame. This can be from a camp stove or a fire pit. Check it out!
