My house gets gnats in it from time to time and is completely annoying to the point in which I refuse to cook because they keep landing on the meal. So after calling up my grandmother and talking to her for a while she gave me a great recipe for a cheap way to trap gnats. This is safe for children to be around and if something happens and it spills on the floor, your dog will not die from drinking it. You can go on Pinterest and find thousands of ways to kill gnats and they may or may not work just depending on how much you are willing to spend. Here is the cheapest, and most effective way that I have found to trap gnats.
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1 pump of liquid soap
Yes you read that right, that is all it takes to make an effective solution to attract gnats and then to kill them. I am not going to sit here and tell you that I know the chemistry or physics of why it traps gnats but what I am saying is that it works really well.
How to use it:
Pour some Apple Cider Vinegar in a small container to however much you plan to make. You really do not have to make much at all, just enough to make a smell. Then add a single pump of liquid soap and stir to mix. Sit these around the kitchen and gnats will be attracted to the smell of the Apple Cider Vinegar.
I have made a network of these around the house in certain areas to trap more gnats. I place the trap near doors, windows, in the pantry and beside the refrigerator. Along with being clean around the kitchen has really helped us keep our home rid of those horrible little buggers.
